Compress an image to 200 KB
200 kB is the limit most portals use for application photos, profiles and forms. Set it here and keep as much quality as fits.

The result will be at most the chosen size, not exactly that size. 1 kB = 1,000 bytes.
If the target cannot be reached by quality alone, keep the dimensions instead of shrinking the image.
PNG has no quality setting in browsers. PNG files are re-encoded losslessly; if a target is unreachable, dimensions are only reduced when you allow it.
Processing happens locally in this browser. Images are not uploaded. Re-encoding can change quality and removes metadata such as EXIF/GPS; a file that is returned unchanged keeps its original metadata.

Why 200 kB is a different job than 100 kB
- 200 kB leaves noticeably more room for detail. At the same dimensions a photo usually keeps most of its texture, and portraits or documents stay readable.
- Where quality alone is not enough, this page allows reducing the dimensions. The result lists the new size, so nothing changes silently.
- For print, 200 kB is still a small file. This limit is for uploads and web pages, not for printing.
How to get to 200 kB
- Add up to ten images. The 200 kB target applies to every one of them separately.
- The target is preselected; choose “Higher quality” if the image contains fine text and you can afford a larger result within the limit.
- Process and compare. The result line states the real size, whether the target was met and whether the dimensions changed.
Questions about the 200 kB limit
Which preset should I choose for a job application photo?
“Balanced” is the safe default. It protects skin tones and hair detail; “Higher quality” pays off when the photo will be looked at closely or printed later.
Will the photo keep its full pixel size?
Only if 200 kB can be reached without shrinking. The result states the dimensions before and after, and the note “Dimensions were reduced” appears whenever they changed.
Why does the tool refuse some images?
If the target cannot be reached without falling below the quality floor, the original is returned with an explanation. A file that fulfils the upload form but is visibly damaged would be worse.
Does it work in batch?
Yes. All selected images are processed one after another with the same settings, and you can download them together as a ZIP archive.
