Applies to JPEG and WebP only. PNG is lossless.
JPEG cannot store transparency. Transparent areas are filled with this colour.
The file extension always matches the real encoded format.
Processing happens locally in this browser. Images are not uploaded. Re-encoding can change quality and removes metadata such as EXIF/GPS; a file that is returned unchanged keeps its original metadata.

If the ZIP file does not open on this device, download the files individually.
How it works
- Add up to 10 JPG, PNG or WebP images by choosing files or dropping them on the area.
- Choose the output format. For JPEG, set a background colour if your image has transparency. Adjust quality for JPEG and WebP if needed.
- Press “Process images” and download the converted files. The extension always matches the real encoded format.
Questions about formats
Which conversions are possible?
JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG, JPG to WebP, WebP to JPG, PNG to WebP and WebP to PNG. HEIC and AVIF are not supported in this version.
What happens to transparency?
PNG and WebP can keep transparency. JPEG cannot store it, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default). This is shown before you process.
Does converting change the quality?
Converting to JPEG or WebP re-encodes the image lossily, and the quality setting applies. Converting to PNG is lossless in terms of the pixels, but the file can be much larger.
Are EXIF and GPS metadata preserved?
No. Canvas-based encoding strips metadata such as camera model, date and GPS coordinates. The EXIF orientation is applied so the picture is not rotated wrongly.
Why is my converted file larger?
A format change is not compression. PNG and some WebP outputs can be larger than the source. The result view says so instead of pretending there was a saving.
Is the output really the format I selected?
Yes. After encoding, the tool checks the file signature. If the browser silently fell back to PNG, the result is rejected instead of being offered as a .jpg or .webp download.
